Monetary and Financial Statistics

"Nothing is more important for monetary policy than good statistics" (President of the European Monetary Institute, Alexandre Lamfalussy, in the preword of the publication "Statistical Needs of the Monetary Union" (1996)).

Compilation of the harmonized national statistics and cooperation with the European central bank (ECB) is important task of the National bank of Slovakia. Monetary and financial statistics by its range contributes to the complex of economic and financial data needed for decision making and operating of comprehensive monetary policy. Individual statistics are used also for financial stability purposes and macro/micro prudential analysis.

The objective is to provide to users actual data and time series in national detail, just like statistics compiled according to harmonized methodology within the eurozone, assorted by individual areas of monetary and financial statistics.

Monetary and financial statistics in its range provides primarily monthly data on stocks, transactions, interest rates and growth rates for selected asset and liability instruments of monetary financial institutions and quarterly data on stocks of selected assets and liabilities of other financial intermediaries. Belonging to monetary and financial statistics is also securities issues statistics and financial markets statistics.

Presented data are assorted according to following hierarchy: on the first level national data broken down according to ECB requirements are published. These data are followed by time series and actual surveys of selected instruments for the period before entry and after entry of Slovakia to the eurozone, for analytical purposes. In the "related links" section, in the right side panel of the website, links to eurozone data and helpful information are provided.

More detailed data, which are the background for compilation of the harmonized national data, are disseminated under items "Source statistical data of monetary financial institutions" and "Source statistical data of other financial intermediaries".

Information on methodology, legal framework and actual publications is also available on this website.
