Basic information

What activities are currently carried out by the central bank?
After the entry to the eurozone the National Bank of Slovakia stopped creating its own monetary policy. The Governer of the NBS is a member of the Governing Council, which is a decision-making body of the European Central Bank (ECB). The Governing Council is responsible for formulation of the monetary policy for the whole eurozone. Also other NBS employees of the NBS are taking part in the creation of the monetary policy by working in different committees of the Eurosystem (for example Monetary Policy Committee, International Relations Committee and Market Operations Committee). The NBS henceforth continues in the financial market supervision, operation of the domestic payment system, currency circulation governance and other tasks. Top of page
