Gabriela Láni Sedláková

Ms. Gabriela Láni Sedláková was born on 21 July 1959 in Bratislava.

In 1985 she graduated with distinction and chancellor's commendation from the Faculty of Economics and Management of Production Industries in the University of Economics.

After graduation she started working as credit officer for the Czechoslovak State Bank in the Bratislava branch. From 1989 to 1991 she held the position of Head of Credit Section.

In 1991 she joined Slovenska zarucna banka s.p.u. From its beginning she participated in the establishment and start of its operation as the first specialized banking institution of its type in Eastern Europe, supporting the financing of small and medium-sized enterprises by provision of bank guarantees and financial allowances. From 1991 to 1996 Ms. Sedlakova was Director of the Guarantee Division, Deputy General Director and between 1996 and 1999 she was the General Director. During her time as General Director, the Bank extended its activity and began to operate also as a development Bank.

In the course of her career in the banking sector she participated in many professional seminars and study stays in Europe, Japan and USA aimed at supporting small and medium-sized enterprising, financing and instruments of financing of small and medium-sized enterprises.

From 1999 to 2005 she was General Director and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the international transport company Cechofracht SK a.s., and later she was Director of the Vodex s.r.o. company.

She is fluent in English, German and Russian and has a passive knowledge of Italian.

Ms. Gabriela Láni Sedláková is married and has one child.

On 23 May 2007 the Government of the Slovak Republic appointed Ms. Láni Sedláková a Member of the Bank Board of the National Bank of Slovakia, effective from 1 June 2007.
